The confusion, social baggage and misunderstanding surrounding the nature of psychic readings obscures from most what the psychic experience is all about. How do psychics seemingly pull information out of thin air? Is it by slight of hand? Is it a trick? To the more tactile oriented, maybe so. To the more intuitively oriented, maybe not.

Consider this:

There is scientific data linking our physiology with intuitive or psychic experiences.  Our pineal gland, located in our brain, correlates with the DMT molecule. The DMT molecule is linked to paranormal experience (Ref: “DMT, The Spirit Molecule” by Rick Strassman, M.D. Also ref: “Secrets in the Fields” by Freddy Silva).  Also, Candace Pert’s scientific work (Ref: "Molecules of Emotion") in human molecular biology isolated molecular ‘lock’ and ‘key’ systems in our body corresponding to our emotional experiences. At any given time, we are experiencing a ‘wash’ of internal emotional molecules flowing through our body. One of her discoveries showed a high percentage of molecular emotional receptor sites in our intestinal track (could it be what we know as 'gut instinct'?). These are just two of the ever growing links between our physiology and psychic experience.

Then consider this:
 
Each of us is biologically and physiologically unique, much like snowflakes. Since we are unique, some of us are physiologically wired with greater sensitivity (intuitive and psychic) levels, some of us with less. It's possible then, that some of us are more open and prone to a psychic or intuitive experience than others. 
 
Elaine Aron also sites in her book “The Highly Sensitive Person” research showing our population filled with a dynamic range of people characterized from least to most sensitive. So, it makes sense that those individuals functioning in the range of less sensitive abilities and characteristics would find the psychic world unnatural, possibly unacceptable and maybe unnerving. These are the people looking under pillow cushions and behind doors trying to find the physical evidence proving the connection between accurate information and the psychic who just correctly described a deceased loved one, the location of a missing cell phone, a wife’s favorite color or a pet’s favorite trick.

It makes sense that those functioning in the highly sensitive region are capable of frequently touching the ephemeral (less physically tactile) world. They seem to know the situations occurring around them before or during the time they actually do. They seem to frequently be in touch with the emotions of those around them. They seem to be able to look at or touch an object and know its connections. They seem to understand and grasp the inherent truth and the subtle nuances and perceptions of a situation far before any of those involved.

Yet, even those with little to no sensitive capabilities still retain at least some intuitive capabilities. Even those who are highly sensitively adept still must function in the physical world. This is part of what it means to be spiritual creatures living inside physical bodies. We are not purely spiritual. We are not purely physical. We are a combination of both. Finding the balance is the magic key.

The Physical and Ephemeral World

Currently, our culture believes the world we live in is highly tactile, highly physical. We rely strongly on our five senses to tell us about the reality surrounding us. We tend to believe life happens to us, not the other way around, and we respond in accordance by reacting.

What if this wasn’t true? What if it was the reverse? What if the tactile, physical world and the humanly five senses we use to know, evaluate and define it were only the tip of the ice berg of a much larger picture? What if the ice showing above the water was the physical world and the ice below the water’s surface that we couldn’t see was the energetic or ephemeral world?

In essence, that’s what quantum physics and so many of the spiritual traditions around the world are showing us. Physicality is an end result created through energy— and not just the results we see of physical energy— but the subtle energies layered, intertwined and suffused through everything. In essence, physicality is the result of the field of energetic consciousness.

So, when we only use our five senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste) to tell us about the physical world, we are only receiving a report on the physical results, which is only a small portion of the greatest whole. With this pattern, we continue to spin inside the same loop of a hamster cage wheel. If we want to know the real information of how things are created and how we can make changes in our lives, we have to find a way to look, see and then transform through the loop of the hamster wheel. We have to find a way to view beyond the tip of the ice berg and into deeper waters to the larger picture. This is where psychic, intuitive or sensitive capabilities enter— this is when/where the sixth sense views and/or senses the dimensions beyond three and time beyond it’s illusion of linearity (You know, it wasn’t what the people on the Titanic could see that sank the ship, it was what they avoided looking at underneath the waters).

The Energy Mirror

When you look in a mirror, what is looking back at you? You, right? Well, that and so much more. Sure, you see your eyes, hair, nose, ears, brows, lips, cheeks, neck and so forth. This is the physical component of you. Have you ever had the feeling there is more, so much more inside of you and surrounding you? There is.

Look in the mirror again, into your eyes. Don’t just physically look, really see with your heart. What are your eyes telling you without saying a word? Are they wells of sadness? Do they radiate joy and eternal hope? Are they caved in and vacant? Are they piercing in a cutting way? Are they soft and intelligent? Are they arrogant? Are they happy? Do they change? Are they you?

Your eyes are one of the gateways to your soul, your infinite and eternal energy field. Your eyes are one of the gateways to your infinite more. You use them to see out and those around you are able to see in.

As you look at your surrounding world, seeing and experiencing it, and it looks back, seeing and experiencing you, consider this: energetic like attracts energetic like. Humans are walking, talking vats of creative consciousness, attracting their energetic likeness much like a magnet. So, whatever our internal emotional, energetic, mental and psychological make up is, we are externally attracting its like kind, surrounding ourselves with it. The components of those things individually and collectively attracted into our lives, reflects to us our internal being, our internal make up: mirrors going back and forth and back and forth. I call the picture of what is externally attracted to us, both physically and energetically, the “Energy Mirror.”

“Choice” and “Seeing” with the Energy Mirror

Each of us, through free will, possesses the inherent gift and privilege of our birthright: choice. We especially possess the choice to leverage a change in the quality of our personal lives at any given moment. Given the gift of choice, each of us is responsible for the current climate of our internal and external conditions (whatever they are). The universe also gifts us with forgiveness in the wake of choice and responsibility. Forgiveness allows us to release and absolve ourselves and others of mistakes (another universal gift).

While the physical world may be delivering you information, in its pattern of a closed loop circuit, that you have limited or no choices, the energetic world is rich with information telling otherwise. One of the beautiful keys to transformation through the closed loop energy circuit of the hamster wheel lies within the Energy Mirror. Using the Energy Mirror as a tool to view the underlying energetic patterns in your life is just one of the ways to see a constructive and healthy path to healing, transformation and change.

‘Seeing’ is all about awareness and intuitively waking up to your immediate life. If you’re driving your life on automatic pilot (in the closed loop energy circuit), chances are you have conditioned yourself to immunity from the Energy Mirror’s red flags, warning signals, miracles, humor and daily signs. Whether you believe it or not, you are intuitive, at one level or another, with any number of intuitive gifts, at any level of intuitive strength. Learning how to trust your intuitive skills and receive energetic information is all a matter of practice. Many of us experience the numbing effect of a culture that poo-poos intuitive gifts, labeling intuitive or psychic moments with other, more socially acceptable labels.

Using the Energy Mirror is a bit like guessing in a game of Pictionary or Charades. It’s a bit like viewing a constellation in the night sky a tad left of center to view it more clearly. It’s a bit like noticing the details appearing in relief around you: a certain phrase repeated; a random song; a personal belief system eroding grain by grain; an animal or color cyclically appearing; seeing how your internal emotional structure is reflected in the way you manage your money; an internal question tugging at you while a series of events, people and information come into your life, building a picture, showing you a field of perspective to transform the question into something more.

Successfully working with the Energy Mirror is much less about logic and linear thought and so much more about functioning in spherical thought patterns, much like viewing a picture infused with energy, emotion and information. It’s similar to retrieving dreams... if you chase the information down, it dissipates into thin air. If you patiently wait, trust and allow yourself to receive information, it gently and subtly flows in.

‘Seeing’ your personal Energy Mirror and life sometimes isn’t easy. Even the best ‘seers’ have difficulty psychically and intuitively ‘seeing’ their own Energy Mirror in their own lives. Ego, pain, fear, hope, passion and more distort, block and hide the clearest view. It can be a frustrating version of not being able to see the forest for the trees or living in the middle of a fishbowl. Those around you can see in a heck of a lot better than you can see out.

Sometimes, it’s okay to ask for help to ‘see.’ That’s where psychics, intuitives or energy healers/workers become important and can make a difference. These are the people versed in seeing the Energy Mirror when it’s difficult for others to see their own lives, let alone the energetic mirror reflecting it to them. Inside a Psychic Reading with Dana Cribari

The rich energetic world available at our fingertips is only a heartbeat or a thought away. There is nothing complicated or difficult about accessing it except the willingness to peel back the layers of cognitive insulation we cocoon ourselves in. The more practiced you become in energetic awareness and observation (noticing the 'first impressions' of subtle energy), the intuitively stronger you become and the more easily reading energy occurs. Though psychics, intuitives, energy healers and workers all share similarities in their work, each possess their own unique style, abilities, experience, specialties and skill. The style of psychic readings I provide for clients have evolved, and continues to do so— no two readings are alike.

In preparation for a psychic reading (which I do solitarily without the client present), I set up what I call Sacred Space, much like I have described in my article "Creating Sacred Space". Though each psychic reading is different, the structural elements mentioned here are similar for each reading.

Once I have centered, grounded, cleared and made my intent known to intuitively channel for a specific client, I spend a few moments gathering specific items to be used during the reading. These may be specific stones, like Amethyst or Rose Quartz or Selenite. These may be specific figurines, like Buddha, Kwan Yin or animal figurines. These may be certain pieces of jewelry I am to wear, like Opal, Snowflake Obsidion or Peridot. These may be certain books from my shelves like Ted Andrews “Animal Speak,” or “The Penguin Book of Symbols,” or Melody’s “Love is in the Earth.” Whatever the items, I am directed to them intuitively by subtle energetic pulls and tugs (that I feel internally in my torso) through my Spirit Guides. Magically, no two item groupings are alike and each resonates directly to each unique psychic reading.

Once I’ve collected the items, it’s time to set space. Usually, as the incense burns, I receive instructions as to where each piece is to be placed around me in a circle, encompassing me and my laptop computer in my office. Gradually, my Spirit Guides having helped me, a unique energetic space is set— the energies of the figurines, incense, stones, books and jewelry having created a unique mix of energy and energetic gateways for energy and entities to flow through. It’s an especial thrill to feel the energetic mixes of stones, much like one mixes ingredients for a special recipe or designs colors into an art project.

At this juncture, the energy for the psychic reading, or more specifically, the intuitive channel, has built to overflowing. I settle in with my computer and begin to channel (write) into words all I am seeing, hearing, feeling and experiencing. (Note: I also use the photo a client has provided for me as an energetic spring board at the beginning of readings.)

My responsibility as an intuitive channeler is to act as the go-between from the Spirit, Energy or Ephemeral World to this one. It’s my job as a messenger to report and transcribe all that is energetically flowing through. It is not my job to analyze or question the information or energy (which is an immediate energy flow killer). It is not my job to interpret the information. It is not my job to decipher which information is communicated— it is all communicated to the best of my ability, cognizance, and in the intent of highest good.

Intuitively channeling is much like receiving an energetic string of pearls. An intuitive channel may begin with a single word or picture or emotion. Once I have written it down, a stream and then flow of information, energy, colors, entities, emotion, pictures and more begin to emerge like the sun shines, the rivers flow and love exists. (I also have a strong connection to empathing, which is feeling other’s emotions). Receiving the information is a deep act of trust, openness, vulnerability and love. I trust the information received is for my and the client’s highest good. I trust I am protected in the process. I trust.

Soon after the channel is flowing, it begins to deepen and widen. Single energies no longer appear linear or flat. They gain depth, simultaneously layering with a spherical and multi-dimensional quality. I lose track of the time and space of a single thread of consciousness and become immersed in multiple dimensional layers and energies of a divine ‘all.’ Sometimes, my greatest frustration and challenge lies in spontaneously translating the greatness and impact of the experience down into a single stream of words, communicated to the client. I want my client to not only read the information, but also experience those moments for their self, knowing the overwhelming beauty, power, strength, love and support continually surrounding them (and all of us).

Many times during the intuitive channeling process, entities appear. Reading their energy and communicating with them is a form of psychic work called mediumship. Entities may include deceased loved ones the client personally knows, Elementals (fairies, elves, leprechauns, etc), Angels and/or Spirit Guides. Usually the entities appearing are the ones who can best convey a message to you with the most emphasis. Though you are usually already working with a host of entities and Spirit Guides, in a reading, maybe only a few will appear.

Believe it or not, as I am receiving and accessing energy during an intuitive channel, the client (even though remote) can affect energy flow. Energy follows intent; therefore, energy flows where there is openness, and is blocked by closed-ness. A client possessing the strongest, most open intent of receiving the information in a psychic reading grants the psychic they are working with the greatest access to open energetic flow. A client purchasing a reading, yet blocked to receiving a message, grants the psychic a much smaller energetic environment to work with. The quality of psychic reading you receive partially hinges upon your willingness and openness to receive it. (The same is true for any healing or energy work.)

Reading energy is a subtle art. If you try to chase it down, it will skip away from you like the end of a rainbow. If you try to grasp and clench it in your consciousness fist, it will simply evaporate like the wisps of an elusive dream. It is all about remaining open and aware with a light consciousness touch, tuned in to receive.

When I am intuitively channeling, reading energy, it is much like reading the impressions energy leaves. I think there is a misnomer among the general population that psychically ‘seeing’ is actually physically seeing, much like it is shown in television shows like “Medium” and “Ghost Whisperer.” Along with this, there is a belief that if you do not psychically ‘see’ this way, it is not real. Nothing could be further from the truth. For some who have the gift, I believe they visibly do see distinctly and physically—but it is not the only why of psychically seeing. Sometimes, psychically seeing energy is much more subtle, yet just as real and strong.

Once the energy in an intuitive channel dissipates, the message reaching fruition, I switch gears and begin to physically read and psychically respond to specific questions clients provide. These questions (called Soul Questions) are meant for first parties only. I do not answer questions directed at reading a third party’s energy (I consider this psychic eavesdropping without permission). I do not read the questions prior to the main part of the intuitive channel. As I physically read each question, I wait for intuitive impulses and tugs and report the first impressions I receive through. Interestingly, many of the questions asked are usually already answered by the nature of the information in the intuitive reading. Yet, the questions are still paramount to the intuitive reading because they provide an energetic gateway for information and energy to flow. When you ask a question, you are energetically taking personal responsibility for your life and granting permission to receive energetic information cogent to it. The deeper, more intent and heartfelt the question is, the greater the quality of the information and energy received.

The nature of information culminating in an intuitive channel through me for you from your Spirit Guides is a foundational, practical energetic insider's view into your life, directly relating to your energetic, emotional, spiritual and psychological life elements— in essence, your "Energy Mirror". We won’t be looking at the surface physical aspects of you and your life so much as we will be looking at the root energetic foundation beneath it, creating and causing your physical world. These readings are all about giving you greater energetic insight into the nature of your life (practical psychic tools) so you may yield more fully informed, conscious, confident, constructive choices, ultimately yielding greater leverage in creating your authentic life.
